AIRBORNE LIDAR SURVEYING SUPPORT

LiDAR technology is short for Light Detection and Ranging. LiDAR is a popular remote sensing technology used by licensed surveyors, archaeologists, GIS departments, and other disciplines.

Think of LiDAR as an extremely bright spotlight that shines above a thick tree canopy in the pitch dark. The light that makes it to the ground or various parts of the tree returns a location and distance based on the range of elevation.

LiDAR is extremely useful for creating Digital Elevation Models (DEM) underneath vegetation that would otherwise require land clearing and manual labor to get a spatial representation of the surface.

Said technology offers significant cost savings over traditional ground-based surveying methods.
